  📌 ICYMI – The newly created Innovator of the Year award, created in partnership between DOE’s Office of Technology Transitions and the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), was presented to Dr. Jason Zhang at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. 🧲 His groundbreaking work on inventing cutting edge #technology in addition to the #commercialization of technologies earned him this recognition. His work in energy storage devices as well as his leadership as part of the Licensed Flywheel Program co-developed with his colleagues at PNNL showcase his commitment to teamwork and #innovation. Blueprints developed through this funding opportunity will address multiple topics central to planning and implementing an eligible project, potentially including but not limited to the following: building a project team; funding and financing; designing an eligible project; documentation and record keeping; tax year determination; prevailing wage, apprenticeship, and domestic content requirements; IRS pre-registration; and tax return filing.   In our Tech Transfer Success Stories series, we highlight how our programs shape commercialization journeys. This week, we feature SolarAPP+, an online platform simplifying permits for residential solar systems. Led by Jeff Cook at National Renewable Energy Laboratory, SolarAPP+ was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office through the Technology Commercialization Fund in 2019. Since launching in 2021, it has issued over 22,000 permits in 62 communities, approving over 127,000 kilowatts and saving 22,000 review hours.#DOE #SolarPower #cleanenergy
